Check in baggage with SWISS

 

Due to an update in the Lufthansa app, you need to check in baggage through the BAGTAG app. This is a temporary situation, and we will let you know when matters change with regard to using BAGTAG with airlines of the Lufthansa Group.

Haven’t got the BAGTAG app yet? Download it now from the App store and Google Play store. 

 

Step 01

Add devices

If you haven’t used the BAGTAG app before, please create an account in the BAGTAG app.

Next, add your BAGTAG device(s) to your account. Navigate to the device tab with the suitcase icon and select the ‘Add device’ option. Follow the instructions to add BAGTAGs to your account.

Step 02

Start a journey

First, use the airline app or website to check in for your flight. Then open the BAGTAG app.

Starting a journey for the first time? After registering in the app, click the “select your airline” button on the app homepage.

Have you already used the BAGTAG app for a journey? Click the ‘+’ sign in the upper right-hand corner of the journeys tab, which opens by clicking on the airplane.

 

Step 03

Find your booking

Find your booking by selecting SWISS Airlines from the list of airlines. Enter your booking information to start the baggage check-in process.

Your booking reference is a series of six letters and numbers and can be found in your airline booking confirmation email.

A journey is created and you can proceed to check in baggage for your flight.

 

You will be directed to the preceding declaration concerning the carriage of dangerous goods. You have to acknowledge and confirm this declaration for legal reasons. After the confirmation, you are guided through the process of tagging your bag. 

Step 04

Check in & tag

Check in your baggage and receive the baggage tag in the app. If the information is somehow incorrect, you can always restart the process.

The label is now ready to be transferred to your BAGTAG. Follow the instructions in the app to do so.

Please note that baggage check-in is only available from 23h before departure.

Step 05

Drop off at the airport

All you have to do at the airport is to drop off your baggage. BAGTAGs are accepted at both self-service bag drop machines and manned check-in desks.

At a number of airports, you can use Lufthansa’s fast lane + fast bag drop machines to drop off your baggage very quickly. Fast bag drop machines can be found at Frankfurt, Munich & Berlin airports.

Start a journey

Next, fill in your booking information to find your flight and to create your journey.

 

Step 03

Check in a bag

Begin the process by finding your booking. Select Lufthansa from the list of airlines and enter your booking information.

Regardless of the method, you will be directed to the preceding declaration concerning the carriage of dangerous goods. You have to acknowledge and confirm this declaration for legal reasons. After the confirmation, you are guided to the process of tagging your bag. 

 

Step 04

Tag your
Bag

Check in your bag and receive the electronic label in the app. If the information is incorrect, start the process again.

The electronic label is now ready to be transferred to your BAGTAG. Follow the instructions in the app to do so.

Step 05

Drop off at the airport

All you have to do is drop off your baggage. BAGTAGs are accepted at both self-service bag drop machines and manned check-in desks.
